DSP for Him

What a week...from earthquake to hurricane...all I can say is thank you Lord for your grace and blessings during these days! I made today's card for dear hubby. It features the The Open Sea stamp set #123030 $26.95 and coordinating Designer Series Paper Nautical Expedition #122343 $10.95 found in the Summer Mini catalog and available through August 31. The stamp set and paper are available in My Digital Studio downloads The Open Sea Brush Set #124112 $3.95 and Nautical Expedition DSP #124111 $4.95 for you digital creations.

Before this paper retires, I am going to take advantage of the August special and stock up. Speaking of paper. I was doing a little research this morning about SU's paper, here's what I found:
Acid Free-a paper that is "Acid Free" it simply means that the paper mixture has a pH above 7.0. This makes for a more stable paper that will not discolor or break down over time.
Lignin Free- lignin is a "glue" that binds the cells of the tree and creates its structure. Approximately one third of the tree is lignin. This material can cause paper to alter over time and become unstable. This product is removed in the kraft process.
Remember to store your paper in a cool dry place. Moisture overtime will make your paper curl.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Happy creating!

Technique Tuesday

This adorable wedding card was made using the Stampin' Up! Big Shot. Did you know you can cut material with the Big Shot? The Big Shot can cut over 50 types of material. In today's card I cut the satin fabric with the scallop circle die. The WOW comes from embossing the fabric with the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing folder. You need to stiffen the fabric with fabric stiffener or spray starch before embossing. Jill Olsen, another SU demonstrator created this card and when I saw it I knew I had to give this technique a try. The template for the bodice can be found here.
It's your turn now, get out your Big Shot andLink have some fun.

SUO Challenge 25 Favorite New Stamp Set

Today's post features Easy Events stamp set. I embossed the white cardstock with the Designer Frame Textured Impression Embossing folder, then stamped the cute little duck inside the frame. I sponged Baja Breeze on the frame to highlight. The gingham background is created by inking the Stripes Texture Impressions embossing folder with Baja Breeze ink before embossing. The grossrain ribbon is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dost Textured Impressions Embossing folder. This card was one of the four cards we made in the Big Shot class today. I just love sharing what I love to do.

Thrifty Thursday

I am teased quite a bit about being a paper hoarder. It's true I do save my scraps. Today's post is an example of why I do. There are so many little projects you can make using them. This little flower pot and flower is a hiding a Dum Dum lollipop. Cute don't you think? I actually brought these to Convention and swapped them for other 3-D swaps. They were a big hit and easy to make. I found the pattern here.

Fold a 2" x 6" piece of DSP in half

From the folded edge, score 1/2" and 2 1/4"

To create the diagonal slant of the flower pot. Cut from the 2 1/4" scored line to the folded edge, 1/2" in on either side.

Open up and add a small square of cardstock to bottom of flower pot to give it a little more "weight". I used the 3/4" square punch.

Fold DSP into flower pot shape with lollipop inside. I used glue dots to hold the sides close. Top with flower of your choice using glue dots. Thanks for stopping by today. Don't be shy leave a comment!
